What you need
- A Windows PC with the INEOS Scanner installed and licensed.
- A supported J2534 pass-through cable.
- Your INEOS Grenadier with the key/fob available.
Step 1 — Connect the hardware
1
Plug the J2534 cable into the vehicle's OBD-II port (under the dash, driver's side).
2
Plug the cable's USB end into your PC.
3
Turn the ignition to ON, engine OFF (this is called KOEO). Many scans are only allowed with the engine off so no modules are missed.
Step 2 — Connect the software
1
Click 🔌 Connect at the top of the window.
2
The status changes to Connected, and a banner shows the decoded year, engine, and mileage.
3
If it can't connect, check the cable, the ignition position, and that no other diagnostic program is using the device.
Tip
Always click Connect first, then open a screen. Connecting after navigating can be unreliable.
Step 3 — Run a Health Scan
1
Open Vehicle Health Scan from the home screen.
2
Click Quick Scan. The tool contacts every module and lists its fault codes.
3
Faults are color-coded — see Fault Statuses.
Full details: Vehicle Health Scan.
Step 4 — Understand and clear faults
1
Read each fault's plain-English description and what you might notice.
2
Fix the underlying cause where needed (some faults won't clear while the problem is still present).
3
Use Clear to erase codes. For engine/transmission codes that won't clear, the tool guides you through a key-cycle and re-checks automatically.
Step 5 — Save a report
1
From the Health Scan, choose Save PDF report.
2
The report includes a decoded-VIN summary, the color-coded faults, and a legend explaining each status.
Where to go next
1
Open Vehicle Health Scan from the home screen.
- Control Unit List — dig into one module: IDs, live data, coding, adaptations.
- Live Data — watch real-time gauges.
- Adaptations & Output Tests — guided service procedures.
