Connecting to the Vehicle
The 🔌 Connect button at the top of the window opens the link to the vehicle through your J2534 cable. Everything else — scanning, live data, coding — needs an active connection.
Steps
1
Plug the J2534 cable into the OBD-II port and your PC.
2
Turn the ignition to ON, engine OFF (KOEO).
3
Click 🔌 Connect. The indicator turns green and reads Connected.
4
A vehicle banner appears with the decoded year, engine type, and mileage.
5
To disconnect, click the same button again (it now reads Disconnect).
License required
If the tool isn't licensed, Connect is disabled and you'll be asked to activate first. See Licensing.
If it won't connect
- Check the cable at both ends and try a different USB port.
- Confirm the ignition is ON (engine off).
- Close any other diagnostic program that may be holding the device.
- The status area shows the exact error to help pinpoint the cause.
Tip
Connect first, then open a screen — it's the most reliable order.
