We’ve been up fitting A LOT of new rigs for La Mesa RV lately. Most have been Winnebago Revel Sprinters or the occasional Travato (based on the Ram Promaster). But we’re most stoked about this 2020 Storyteller Mode 4×4!From the factory the Mode is one the more upscale Class B Sprinter-based RVs. It boasts an M-Power Lithium Energy Management system, and modern interior design complete with hidden shower, portable toilet & MODE galley complete with electric cooktop, sink, refrigerator & storage. But nothing stays stock at Agile! We wanted to give it a bit more off-road appeal. As soon as the porter dropped it off, we got to work!We swapped the factory 18s for more off-road friendly 17” bronze Method Race 701 wheels. With smaller wheels we fit much larger 275/70-R17 BFG K02 tires thanks to our No-Rub fiberglass replacement fenders. The No-Rub fender opens the 2019+ (VS30) fender wells enough to accommodate this tire. We color-matched the fenders to the rest of the body for a very factory-like install.While we do make a kit that allows you to store a 275/70-R17 spare in the factory basket, we feel that space is best utilized for something else (like our 28-gallon auxiliary fuel tank). 1-15 minute installation later our 2019/2020 Rear Door Tire Carrier and accompanying billet aluminum rear door emblem were researtch papers installed.We wrapped up this build with a few more accessory upgrades. Replacing the stock sidestep with Powersteps from AMP not only gives the RV a sleeker appearance, but keeps them from getting caught on any and everything off-road. The factory Mercedes “Vespa” horn was trashed in favor of a set of PIAA dual bass horns. A Rigid Industries 40” LED Lightbar was mounted on the roof rack. And our ARB On-Board Air Twin Compressor kit was installed under the hood. This kit (which we’ve designed for 2020) mounts the compressor on the passenger side of the engine bay and now features improved air source hardware (located under the hood and next to the rear trailer hitch).When we called La Mesa RV to tell them their rig was ready, they told us to keep it. It was already sold! The buyer was dropping his friend off at our shop to pick up a van we’d just finished upfitting. This gentleman was already in the market for his own rig, and had previously considered the Storyteller Mode 4×4. He got one look at this one while it was in our service bay and pulled the trigger right away.This won’t be the last of the Storyteller’s we see. This customer will be bringing his back soon for a Sprinter 4×4 RIP Kit & auxiliary fuel tank. We’ll see plenty more Mode 4x4s too!
